Interview with Facebook’s Director of Operations Europe, Middle East and Asia

Monday, March 8th, 2010

A short interview with Colm Long, Facebook’s Director of Operations for Europe, the Middle East and Asia  I carried out on behalf of Donegal County Enterprise Board (I’m the disembodied voice and the shaky hand on the camera).  Colm was just about to present a seminar as part of Donegal’s Business Week 2010.  Here he talks about how small business can effectively use Facebook (and other online media) to promote themselves.  The full video of his seminar will be available online shortly.

Adwords ROI and report dates

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Good post by Brian Carter at the  Search Engine Journal blog on why “Your adwords ROI is better than you think“.  He highlights that the date range you choose when reporting on Adwords conversions could make a big difference to the % conversion rates you see i.e. you could get an inaccurate view of how your campaigns are performing.  I picked this post up from one of the best sources of marketing information,  the “Who’s blogging what” weekly newsletter.

The 2009 Inc.com 500

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Inc.com launched its Inc 500 list this week, which ranks the fastest growing privately owned companies in the US.  For anyone starting their own business the list should prove inspiring.  For example, I’ve been looking at the Advertising and Marketing companies on the Inc500.  Check out the top entry (and 5th in the overall list) IntegraClick.  Founded by John Lemp in Sarasota Florida in 2002, it achieved 12,654.4% three-year growth, and has revenues of $96.4 million, with 55 employees.  Next among the advertising and marketing firms, and 8th in the overall ranking, is One Technologies, founded in 2000, with 9,946.4% three-year growth and revenues of $50.7m.  It’s good to be reminded that it’s still possible to be ambitious and achieve outrageously high growth despite the economic turbulence of the last year.
