What the f**k ISN’T social media?

In my last post I highlighted the excellent slidedeck “WTF is social media? – One year on” by Marta Kagan. I’ll have more to say on social media over time as I test what is and isn’t possible, but I guess some fundamentals will hold true. For example, if your product has serious deficiencies, or doesn’t provide value you can clearly articulate to a defined group of buyers, using social networks as a promotional tool shouldn’t be your first priority. Here’s a great article by Chris Lake of eConsultancy.com called “What the f**k ISN’T social media” which makes some really good points about what you shouldn’t expect social media to do.
