PR AND DIGITAL MARKETING FOUNDER TO LEAD NETWORK
Donegal, 17 Nov 2009
Annmarie Doherty, Managing Partner of Doherty White Digital Marketing and PR, has been elected President of the Donegal Women in Business Network at the organisation's 2009 AGM. A member of the Network since 2007, Annmarie joined the steering group of Donegal Women in Business in 2008, helping to organise the network's busy calender of events and promoting membership of the women's network to both new and existing members.
"I am absolutely delighted to be elected", said Annmarie. "The previous president, Joan Heaney, did a great job in expanding the network's membership and I hope to continue that growth in the future".
Originally from Derry, Annmarie studied Business and Politics at Trinity College Dublin followed by a Masters in UCD. She joined the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce in 1997 as Communications Manager and helped organise a series of business lunches leading up to the Good Friday agreement with politicians such as John Hume, George Mitchell, John Major, Ian Paisley and Gerry Adams.
She went on to become the youngest female CEO of a Chamber of Commerce based in Drogheda, County Louth. Following that chamber's accreditation to the National umbrella organisation, Chambers Ireland, she became CEO of Blanchardstown Chamber of Commerce in 2001. Blanchardstown is one of Dublin's largest industrial areas, with a business membership which includes IBM, 3Com, Xerox and the Quinn Group. During her time there she organised events with leading business people and politicians such as Willie Walsh, then CEO of Aer Lingus, Bertie Ahern TD, Dr Chris Horn, founder of Iona Technologies and leading rugby pundit George Hook.
Following the birth of twin boys, Annmarie returned to the North West in early 2005 with her husband Michael, a Moville man, and settled in Greencastle. In late 2006, Annmarie set up DohertyWhite, a PR and Marketing Consultancy with Michael and quickly gained a number of clients including the Donegal Design Directorate, Enterprise Ireland, Donegal County Enterprise Board, North West Marketing and the Taste of Success Food Network. More recently, DohertyWhite has extended its services and opened offices in Letterkenny and Dublin, with Michael joining the company full-time in September.
Annmarie will be joined on the new Board by Charlene Patton, Vice President and owner of Charlene Patton Auctioneering, Rachel Wasson, Treasurer, Business Executive, Donegal County Enterprise Board, Maureen Walsh, Treasurer, Errigal Montessori School and Creche, Celine Carroll, Secretary, Office Manager Donegal County Enterprise Board, Joan Heaney, Heaney Consulting, Rosemary Lyons, Enterprise Officer, Inishowen Area Partnership, Anne Leonard, Under the Hat Hairdressers and Life Coach, Noreen McGlynn, Home Instead Senior Care and Catherine Lyster, LYIT.
Annmarie will be attending the National Women's Enterprise Day in Mullingar this weekend with a strong delegation from the Donegal Women in Business Network. Plans are also under way for the organisation's Christmas Lunch, details of which will be announced shortly.
Membership of the Donegal Women in Business is open to both women working in business and business-owners.
